5 best examples of copywriting
The copywriter was at the heart of the hit series Mad Men (still highly recommended), where Don Draper and his team threw out one unique quote after another. But copywriting is much more than that. Discover five of the best copywriting examples here.
What is copywriting?
Copywriting is all about creating content to motivate customers to buy a product or service. Sometimes it's a few words, other times it's a longer text, or you deliver the message in a video. Find out more about all that is copywriting here.
5 of the best examples of copywriting
There are, of course, lots of examples of copywriting. Here we have five of the best examples, where the client's attention is captured by a good story or clever humour.
1. Surreal Cereal with 'famous names'.
Surreal Cereal managed to advertise with famous names in a clever way. For example, its breakfast was favoured by household names like Serena Williams, Ronaldo and Dwayne Johnson. And not the tennis star, footballer and actor/WWE legend. But local London residents of the same name. Using an * and signing that Dwayne Johnson was a bus driver, they cleverly and conspicuously advertised.
2. Nike with Kaepernick
Standing up for something you believe in. Or in the case of Colin Kaernick, kneel to protest. He did so as a successful NFL quarterback in 2019, protesting police brutality against African-Americans in the United States. It eventually cost him his American football career because NFL bosses did not thank him for it. Nike supported him with its Dream Crazy campaign. Initially, the company received a lot of criticism, especially from the Republican corner of the US. But eventually, Nike was met with a surge in sales. In the short term, standing what you believe in can earn you hits. But by staying authentic, Nike was rewarded in the longer term.
KFC - When you're on top, everbody wants a piece of you 3.
KFC is a well-known name in the world of fast food. And because of its simple acronym, there are many fast food chains, especially in the UK, that want to hitch a ride on its success. And so there is the LFC, the NFC, the UFC (seems tricky with the sports federation for MMA) and so on. KFC has even managed to establish a whole alphabet, including the QFC and the ZFC.
Bol.com on social media
The Netherlands' better-known online shop has known how to score with humour on social media for many years. The combination between a short text and a funny image creates a hugely positive feeling for the brand among customers. At one point, fans were just waiting for the new post and then sharing it en masse. Hats off.
5. Heinz - Pass the Heinz
Do we still reach back to the series Mad Men. In it, Don Draper and his team tried to bring in Heinz as a client. A simple message 'Pass the Heinz' was supposed to entice the client to choose the agency. In the series, this was not done. But in real life, Heinz did choose the quote and the 60s vibe from the series was incorporated into real life.
