ChatGPT: tool instead of threat
The rise of ChatGPT: an artificial intelligence chatbot that conducts human dialogues in contrast to the often flawed answers and texts that emerge from a Googler search. The chatbot can be consulted for endless questions and commands, but is particularly useful for content creation. A threat to our profession? We don't think so. Instead, we see ChatGPT as an aid to our work, allowing us to get started faster and have more time for the real work: creating unique, well thought-out content, specifically for our clients.
ChatGPT was developed by OpenAI and is already a hot topic in our profession. The tool creates an SEO blog and interview questions in no time or coughs up dozens of title possibilities for your next article. A relevant development, but perhaps also a source of uncertainty within our industry. And this will only become more so in the future. You might think: won't this tool replace the work of the copywriter, then? So we don't think so. Use it as a tool and focus on your added value as a specialist.
What can ChatGPT do for us?
You just specify what you need and the tool will create it for you, based on a very large database of the internet. For example: You type an open question (like: can you give me some background on content marketing?) or give an assignment (like: write an SEO blog about Public Relations). Based on that, the tool goes to work and within minutes you have the answer or a comprehensive blog in your hands. But, it goes even further than that. You can also enter an existing text and ask the tool to summarise the piece, translate it or take out the spelling mistakes. So, a handy, advanced tool that one can use to create content quickly.
Why ChatGPT does not make copywriters redundant
Now you may be thinking, why do we still need copywriters? However fast and advanced the tool is, the content you create with it is not comparable to the work of a copywriter. First of all, copywriters base their work on a certain (content) strategy that has been well thought out. Secondly, the content is unique precisely because of the way they retrieve information: (in-depth) interviews, (market) research, stories of experts by experience, observations, emotions or retrieved background information. Finally, they are creative with words, the structure of texts or a particular angle. Those choices and type of content cannot be created with an AI tool. Moreover, ChatGPT can always make the content contain errors or appear artificial. So the content can never be directly copied one-to-one.
We therefore use ChatGPT as a tool in our work. As inspiration for a blog or as the basis for an extensive article or social media post, supplemented with our own quotes, experiences, emotions or observations.
